Write things down

Create 'To Do' lists and Action Plans. Start a journal!

  • Making daily lists might help with organising your time, and it makes it easier to remember things. It is also very satisfying ticking things off the list — who doesn’t enjoy a sense of achievement? And remember, Rome was not built in a day: not everything on the list needs to be done at once.

  • Lists are also helpful with deciding what to do next without spending too much time thinking about what to do next, or forgetting things when they get overwhelming.

  • Start a gratitude journal: add in the positive things that you are grateful for in a day, simple things like a sunny day or someone offering you a cup of tea. Write as many or as few as you like. Write in it for a few days, then read it back — every little thing you will read will be positive. Read it back again after a month or two!

  • Write down your worries if it’s helpful to express them without verbalising them to someone else. Write them down and put them in a jar, and laugh at them afterwards — or burn them, or rip the paper into shreds, whatever helps!
