About

Hi, I am Diana. Thank you for visiting my page!

If you are here, perhaps you are not feeling at your best right now — and that is alright. You have come to the right place to learn about some little self-care ideas that could make a massive difference to your life. I am passionate about wellbeing and mental health, and I believe it is important to normalise having negative emotions as well as positive ones. We go through a lot in life, and we are guided by our feelings and emotions. At times, these emotions take hold of us and the best thing to do for a while is to sit there with them, acknowledge and accept them. This is only a phase, and things will change and get better again.

I have written all of this from experience. Most of the suggestions are things that I have tried and have worked for me, and some are things that my service users and people that I know have found helpful. I have found that talking about what we are going through really helps, but also people sometimes need some examples of things that they can try, in order to get started.

I am working as a mental health peer support worker, and trying to build a self-care plan with people is part of my agenda. I firmly believe that small simple things can make a massive difference to our lives. Sadly, there is no magic wand, but with a bit of work on ourselves we can deal more easily with our ups and downs.

I chose the snowdrop for this website because I view it as the perfect symbol of hope. And we must hold onto hope when times get tough, because this is what helps us build resilience. A snowdrop is tiny and delicate, yet it is the first flower to emerge after a long harsh winter. The same applies to us — we are delicate when we are not feeling great, but with a bit of support we can push through.

This website was created in order to showcase some examples of simple things you can do to help build your resilience.

These things work. Perhaps not all of them will apply to you, but if you find just one thing that works for you and you take it away, you will become the snowdrop!

Be a person who finds resilience in the harshest of times: Be the Snowdrop!
